As I play further, I'll see if it causes any issues with more than 20 building permissions I am fairly certain this limit uses the same values as the captains. I didn't test it extensively yet, but having set it to 60 (3C hex), I have quickly got 27 captains without problems.
So, change the final 14 (or another value for an earlier rank if you want) to something bigger, and there you go. It's a simple string of bytes (in hexadecimal): 01 02 03 04 05 06 08 0A 0A 14 - that is, 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10,10,20 - the limit is actually 20, on the bonus rank "ruler of the seas" achieved after the admiral if you refuse governorship. The captain/building permission values are buried in the executable, starting with offset 2456E4. I just found the solution, if you are still looking for it a year and half later :) I haven't been able to find a topic on this issue, so either it doesn't exist yet, or I'm completely blind - case in which I apologize.
So, is there any way to do this or am I wasting my time looking for one?Īmeretat: Hi there. You need at least as many captains as there are colonial towns (preferably twice as many) - you know for the hub/spokes systems and other stuff like that. So my question is: Do any of you guys know of ANY method to modify this 10-captain limit? Is there any data file that I can modify to be able to recruit more captains? Because it would be really fun to attempt some Patrician III style supply-lines in this game and control the trade in the entire Caribbean - stuff you simply can't do with just 10 captains. 'Though PR2 has more ship types and it's very fun sailing a military corvette, I find that PR1 is more fun overall, except for the fact that you can't buy up the other traders' buildings (minor inconvenience) AND (and this is what really bugs me) for the fact that you're limited to 10 captains / convoys. I tried both PR1 and PR2 and liked the first one better. Though the last keys I bought were some Autonaut keys that I gifted away, those I bought very cheap from Ebay where there is recognized PayPal buyer protection.Hi there. The only 'key seller' that I regularly use is DailyIndieGame, the cheap bundle seller that also sells keys if you look closer. Personally I were tempted by the very cheap Epic offer (for me it were around equivalent of € 15 for the extended version), but I am still not so hot on Epic game store (I had one of their games installed and deleted it immediately when I found no controller support)) and I am not so hyped that I am going to buy Port Royale 4 from a 'Key store'. Yeah, but if buying from Epic then you at least buy from a recognized store, where as 'key stores' of the other kind is more of a grey area. Even with this discount it was still more expensive on the Epic games store in the UK but might work out cheaper in other countries. Each time you buy a game over £14 or around this you get another £10 coupon. Originally posted by GeeBee:£10 or equivalent Epic games coupon on offer at moment.
Maybe im just meant to sail around, look at the pretty sunsets, and do a bit of light trading. Goes against the principle of a 4x game.īut then again, maybe thats my problem / playing it as a 4x game. So owned the whole map + mass of wargalleons and ship of the line's.Īnd the game comes to a halt, where fame / building rights / etc all become too expensive to level up or buy.Īnd i struggle to play a game thats based on "Stay small, or be severely penalized" My last game, i took over all of my countries cities, and other nation's cities. I cant be bothered pulling real figures from in game. The better you play, the more penalized you are. Some things that really annoy me is its scaling based on networth. The ship battles are a board game / which doesnt bother me / i prefer it. Have a read through the forums, on the topics that concern you, and work it out.
